DENVER — Although the sun may peek out of the clouds on Wednesday, the warm day is expected to be accompanied by some storms in the afternoon.

Temperatures aren’t expected to surpass 90 degrees and are likely to stay in the high 80s through most of the day. Severe weather could buffet the Denver metro through the afternoon, beginning at about 2 p.m.

If storms don’t develop in the metro area, look to the east. The plains are expected to receive thunderstorms, with the possibility of damaging hail, and a small possibility of isolated tornadoes.

The strongest storms of the day will stay along the Colorado and Nebraska and Colorado and Kansas borders.

The severe weather isn’t expected to last through the entire 4th of July weekend. Temperatures on Tuesday are expected to be in the 90’s.
